Giving Back

As part of our mission to support overall health, we proudly give back to the communities we serve. BLA Partners participates in community events, causes and organizations that support healthy bodies, healthy families, and healthy lives. (To see what we have coming up, check out our Community Events listing!)

While our primary focus as a drug testing company is on recovery from substance use disorder, we support recovery in the broadest sense through our community giving – whether recovery from poverty, mental or physical illness, or other life challenges.

Our contributions also take many forms – from Thanksgiving turkey drives and "Adopt-a-Family" holiday giving, to major sponsorships of recovery-oriented activities. Here are a couple of partnerships we’re particularly proud of.

Recovery Awareness

We established Burlington, Vermont’s first annual Recovery Day in 2012. The event has grown every year, and in 2014, we hosted baseball legend Darryl Strawberry for a Recovery Month celebration on the Burlington waterfront. We continually collaborate with state and local officials and partner organizations to plan special exhibits and events that reduce the stigma of addiction and spread SAMHSA’s message that “prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.”

Circle of Stars

For the last several years, we have been a major sponsor of the annual "Circle of Stars" event, a dinner and silent auction to benefit the Turning Point treatment center in Chittenden County, Vermont. Each year, this event brings together community leaders in support of treatment and recovery, and presents a prestigious award to a champion of the recovery movement.

The Hungry Heart

We were a major sponsor of filmmaker Bess O’Brien’s 2013 documentary on prescription drug abuse, “The Hungry Heart”. We also hosted the film’s Gala premiere at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont. The night was a huge success, and those in recovery received complimentary tickets through The Vermont Recovery Network.
