Walk to Help ME Recover
Local Representative Nicole Hanbury and Community Relations Specialist Alison Johnson are working with a group of passionate volunteers to put on the first annual Walk to Help ME Recover, taking place on June 11 in Portland.
The group’s founder, Laurie Batchelder, decided to organize a fundraiser after she happened to witness a man experiencing a drug overdose in a local park. She was one of the passersby who called 911 and got the man medical attention that saved his life. After that day, she felt called to help fund more treatment opportunities in her area.
Funds raised will benefit the Portland Recovery Community Center.
